Eight O'Clock in the Morning - Ray Faraday Nelson
Short, sweet and jarring, this story is what most modern sci-fi that's been influenced by the eminent Philip K. Dick should be like. Very much bite-sized, this story was the basis for the cult-classic movie, "They Live," and despite sharing much more than the same subject matters, the mood of both pieces almost could not be more different. As it stands, this story is very dark and is very abrupt - it seems to exist in the space between a single clap of thunder, going in and out with a bang.

Social commentary with a twinge of nightmare and insanity, 100% lean with no fat.
